  • Perform each of these exercises three times a day, five to ten times each.

    (1) Shoulder circling exercise. Sit down with your hands in your lap. Circle your shoulders forward or backward, whichever is more comfortable.

    (2) Bent arm exercise. Sit with your hands on your shoulders. Raise your elbows upwards until you feel a slight pull, and then lower them again. You can support your elbow on the operation side with the other hand if this is more comfortable.

    (3) Shoulder stretching exercise. Hold your hands behind your back.Slowly stretch your arms upwards, and gently lower them again.

    (4) Arm lifts exercise. Lie on the floor with your shoulders relaxed and your hands together in front of you. Raise your arms up over your head, keeping your elbows straight. Gently lower your arms and repeat.

    (5) Back drying exercise. Hold the ends of a towel in each hand so that it runs behind your back. Pull the towel back and forth from one side to the other. Then swap sides so that the other arm is higher, and repeat the exercise.

    (6) Wall climbing exercise. Stand close to a wall and place your hands on it at shoulder height. Slowly walk your hands up the wall until you feel a stretch, then lower them. Try to raise your hands higher each time as you progress.
